 For Those New to Medicare

For Those New to Medicare

I’m hearing from a couple of recent referrals that Medicare is almost ready to send out the new Medicare cards that will no longer have the Social Security number shown on the card.  The new cards will have 8 or 9 randomly chosen numerals and letters–small and large case– that will be used as the Medicare number. I’m also hearing that the department of Social Security Admin that sends out new cards is way behind in getting new cards out to people who are having their 65th birthday in May, June and July.

So if you fall into this category, it is well worth getting on top of ordering your Medicare card as early as you can prior to you 65th birthday.  It has been advised in the past that you should request your Medicare card in the fourth month prior to your 65th birthday month.  That is still advisable because even if all goes well, it will still take you at least a month to get your card.  If there is a delay, you will still have 3 months to receive the card and work with me in order to learn, analyze and decide which Medicare plans are best for you.
