Turning 65 Means

Big Decisions Ahead

Choosing the best Medicare plans can be difficult. That's why I make it easy in THREE steps.

1. Educate you all about Medicare, including costs and benefits, as well as the optional plans that can minimize healthcare costs.

2. Discuss your healthcare objectives and if applicable, your Rx drug list is analyzed to find the most cost-effective Prescription Drug Plan.

3. Review plans and enroll you into the plan of your choice.

Prescription Drug Plans

If you decide not to join a Medicare drug plan when you're first eligible and you don't have other creditable prescription drug coverage or get Extra Help, you'll likely pay a late enrollment penalty if you join a plan later.  Over the years, I have found that prescription drug costs can take a heavy toll on a retirees living expenses and it is critical that each client's drug portfolio be analyzed on the Center for Medicare and Medicaid website in order to find the most cost effective plan for the client.

Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Plans

Original Medicare pays for much, but not all, of the cost for health care services and supplies. These plans are insurance policies, sold by private companies, which can help pay some of the remaining health care costs, like copayments, coinsurance and deductibles.

Medicare Advantage Plans

A Medicare Advantage Plan (like an HMO or PPO) is another way to get your Medicare coverage.  These plans are offered by Medicare-approved private companies that must follow rules set by Medicare. If you join a Advantage plan you'll still have Medicare but you'll get your Medicare Part A (hospital) and Part B (Medical) coverage from the Advantage Plan, not Original Medicare. You'll generally get your services from a plan's network of providers. Many plans cover prescription drugs as well and some offer dental and vision options.
